Implantology

Dental implants, a modern method of dental medicine

Over the course of their lives, many people lose teeth. The possible reasons for this are accidents, caries or periodontal disease.

Modern implantology has become a well established technique offering numerous advantages.

What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is a screw, usually made of titanium, but nowadays also made of zirconia as an alternative to metal. By means of a surgical procedure carried out at the practice, the screw can be inserted into the jawbone. Hence it replaces the root of the missing tooth.

A denture (crown or brace) is then secured to this artificial abutment. The technique of implants enables us to replace a single tooth, fill a gap between two teeth that may or not be significant, or hold a removable prosthesis in an edentulous jaw.

We use excellent quality implants that are manufactured by the Astratech (Dentsply), Straumann and Dentalpoints (Zeramex), who are leaders in the field of implantology.
